For those having problems with Plain Text switching to HTML, you may have to 
change your default settings. I had the same problem and found that setting 
Plain Text in Format in the message window is not enough. Assuming you are 
using Windows Mail, click on the Tools button, then Options, then Send. 
There is a choice there of setting HTML or Plain Text for Mail messages and 
News messages.
If HTML is selected, change it to Plain Text. That worked for me.
