[TI] Fw: FTM 2010, version 16 and Legacy

I have FTM 16 and do not have any problems with it. I like the fact that I can easily tie into Ancestry.com with FTM. In addition, GenSmarts was included with FTM 16, and it keeps me from losing my mind when trying to figure out what info I have, and what info I still need to look for. It also gives suggestions as to where to find the missing information. I always have people asking me to help with their research, too. So, having a system where I can very easily send the information requested in a flash is a big help to me.

In the past I have used Legacy just as a duplication of the FTM information, but found that I really like the tie-in with Ancestry.com. Speaking of Ancestry, there have been some funky changes to their format when they find, for instance, census information, giving you the image of the page, the transcription of the page and additional information about the persons appearing on the page, without having to select new "buttons" to push. Very cool, but sometimes overwhelming when you have so much information on your screen at one time.

As a person who is researching not only my Italian lines, but also my Dad's Austrian lines, and my husband's family from Baden, Germany on one side and early revoluntionary war information on another side (yes, my husband is the one with the ties to Daniel Boone), FTM helps to keep me organized and automatically sources my information without my having to take the time to do it myself.

I would use Legacy if I was not doing all of these other lines with different backgrounds and timelines. As I get older, I need stuff to be automatic so that my graying memory is not overwhelmed and confused. Alzheimers runs in our family with those who live past 75, so not knowing how long I am going to live, I'd better keep my information on "automatic" for now.
