[TI] Italian Conversation

Just wanted to share some news with the group.  I've been looking for a
group to practice my Italian with.  I was jealous of Tom Corso's group in
Erie, PA so I decided to see if I could find one here in Western New York.
Lo and Behold, after doing a google search, I found a group through a
website called meetup.com.  Just so happens a young woman was starting just
such a group this month.  We had our first meeting on Friday and what a
great time we had.  

There were about 15 people who attended.  One of them was even a former
student of mine!  We have decided to meet twice a month.  Some people speak
very fluently, others, like me, not so much and a few who don't speak
Italian at all but want to learn.  Many of the attendees are descended from
Sicilians.  My former student's family is from a town in the mountains near
Termini - in fact she had just returned from a trip to Cefalu and had
visited Termini.

I am so excited and looking forward to our next meeting.  My goal is to be
fluent by 2011!
