[TI] Termini - Naming Tradition

I think that the naming tradition is intuitive (for me anyway). My
family followed that tradition very closely, however because of smaller
families and middle names, it got condensed. My brother's name is the
same as our grandfather (and father and great grandfather), my name was
mixed up a bit, but I am named after my mother's grandfather (first
name) and father (middle name). My first son is named after both of his
grandfathers, first name the same as my father and the middle name came
from my wife's father. My second son has my name, although we call him
by his middle name. I had no idea of the Sicilian naming tradition
prior to this, but yet intuitively came very close anyway.

I just responded to you privately Tom, but to others the answer would be
yes....but not usually. I've run across Sicilian families who mixed up
the names and those who avoided naming customs all together. It's all
about honoring someone when you name your child after them.

Sincerely,

Melanie D. Holtz
