Valenti, Funeral Director, Dead of Long Illiness

Undertaker Came to City from Italy 49 Years Ago

     Funeral Services for Salvadore Valenti, 53 years old, well know funeral director who died at 6:10 a.m. Friday at his residence, 1530 Esplanade Avenue after an illness of 3 months, will be held from his former funeral parlors at 826 Toulouse Street at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon.  The Rev. Jean B. Delepine? of St. Augustine's Church will officiate. 
     Interment will be at St. Louis Cemetery #3.
     Mr. Valenti came to this country from Italy when he was a child and had made his residence in New Orleans for 49 years.  Thirty years ago he founded the funeral parlors bearing his name.
     He was a member of many organizations including the Giovani Bersaglieri Society, Morgan Grove #30 of the United Order of Druids, Palmetto Camp #2 of the Woodman of the World, the Terminese Society, and the Funeral Directors Association.
     Mr. Valenti is survived by his widow, Marie Ferrand; his daughters, Mrs. Louis D. Matherne and and Mrs. Charles Juan; his brothers, Vincent, Anthony and Joseph; his sisters, Mrs. Gustave Matherne, Mrs. Vincent Saverese and Mrs. Joseph di Franco and 2 grandchildren.

VALENTI - On Friday, October 11, 1929 at 6:10 o'clock a.m., Salvadore Valenti beloved husband of Marie Ferrand, son of Cosimo Valenti and Frances Camella, father of Mrs. Louis D. Matherne and Mrs. Charles Juan; brother of Vincent, Anthony and Joseph and Mrs.Gustave Matherne, Mrs. Vincent Saverese and Mrs. Joseph diFrance and 2 grandchildren.
     Relatives and friends of the family, also officers and members of the Giovani Bersaglieri Society, Morgan Grove #30 of the United Order of Druids, Palmetto Camp #2, of the Woodman of the World, the Terminese Society and the Funeral Directors Association are invited to attend the funeral Sunday, October 13, 1929 at 3 p.m. from his residence, 1530 Esplanade Avenue, corner North Claiborne.  Services to be held at St. Augustine Church.  Interment at St. Louis Cemetery #3.

VALENTI - On Saturday, January 19, 1957 at 4:30 o'clock a.m., Vincent Valenti, husband of the late Mary Reso, father of Mrs. Gus Caradjas, Mrs. Henry Johnsen, Mrs. Walter Berrigan, Mrs. Anthony DiFranco, Mrs. Emile Musso, Cosimo P.,  Dominick and Anthony Valenti, brother of Mrs. Annie Savarese, Mrs. Gus Matherne, and Mrs. Anthony DiFranco, Sr., Anthony and Joseph Valenti and the late Salvadore Valenti, also survived by 13 grandchildren,  16 great grandchildren.  Age 87 years, a native of Italy and a resident of New Orleans for the past 80? years.
     Relatives and friends of the family, also officers and members of Edgewood Gentilly Civic and Social Club are invited to attend the funeral Sunday, January 20, 1957 at 2:30 o'clock p.m. from the Funeral Home of Jacob Schoen and Son, Inc., 527 Elysian Fields Avenue.
     Religious services at St. Peter and Paul church.
     Interment in Hope Mausoleum.
