That's interesting.  I don't understand why it would be not transferable
because of media pictures and in that case the more pictures one adds to the
base the worse it gets.  I stopped using pictures a long time ago.  I just
burn to disk now.

Yes, I have heard good things about Legacy from other researchers, but 
transferring information via GED is not an option with all my media files.

I take exception as well.....It is MUCH easier to link, unlink, and
merge in Legacy.  You can also UNDO what you did link or merge MUCH
easier than in FTM.  It also has a much neater backup system that
creates a unique backup each time you backup your system
