[TI] names

Terry

I record as it was found on the earliest document, the make notations of
any other spelling variations in my notes.
For example, I find a death document in 1860 which states the name ad
DiBella.

Then much later, I find the marriage document and it states diBella. I
then change it to what is on the marriage document as it would be an
earlier document than the death document. I make a notation in the
notes about what the name was recorded as in the death document.

Later, I research the allegati records for the marriage and find the
baptismal document which states the surname is LoBello. I change the
surname to LoBello and add a note about the marriage document spelling.

I was hoping there was a "proper" way to do it, and the recorders just did it incorrectly, like we sometimes misspell names. I guess as long as I am consistent in my records and don't put a space in between they will be easier to organize. Thanks for the suggestion.
