What you say is pretty much what I was thinking. Yet I thought if someone else ran into this situation,
it made it more likely so. So I'm still at square one.

Because 'Michela' is not used in the English speaking world, it can be
translated/shortened anyway one likes. Calling a person baptised as
'Michela' by the name Katie, is no stretch. Nonetheless 'Katie' is USUALLY
a nickname for Catherine. Michela and Catherine are not, however,
