A description of the Archives of the CATHEDRAL Church of Termini Imerese,
Sicily.
By fr. Anthony Delisi
The archives of the Cathedral are contained within a metal cabinet measuring
about 5 by seven feet high, with two sliding doors in front, making it
inconvenient to get to the volumes. The collection is made of over 108
volumes found on four shelves.
The top shelf contains volumes 1 thru 44, dating from 1542 to 1776,
containing lists of births, marriages and deaths.
Volume 1, 1542-1548. List of Baptisms. This volume has been transcribed and
translated by Chick Lehrer.
Volume 2, 1565-1584 Chick Lehrer is working on this volume.
Volume 10, 1590-1610
Second shelf: Volumes 33 thru 52.
Volume 45. 1777 thru 1796. List of marriages and baptisms.
Third shelf: Volumes 53 thru 90.-
Volume (61?) 1802-1803. Baptisms, marriages and deaths.
Volume 62, 1803-1804. List of baptisms, births and deaths.
Volume 63, 1804-1805 Same.
Volume 65, 1805-1806 Same.
Volume 70, 1808-1810. Same
Volume 72, 1810-1812. Same
Volumes 74, 1813-1814 Same
Volume 76, 1814-1817 Same.
Volume 79, 1818-1822. Same.
Photos of the births were made from the above books.
In the rush we seemingly overlooked 1797-1801, and 1806-1808
(booklet for 1873 was also copied.)
Fourth shelf: Up to volume 108.
