Dear Ken,
Your German-Irish mother explains a lot.
No, I am not free to travel with you, but if you kept a journal of your
travels and posted them, this would be the next best thing to traveling with
you. You have a gift for writing and expressing yourself.
I'll be eighty in a few more months.

Fr. Anthony had mentioned me not having typical
Sicilian features and this is true. And having a
German-Irish mother doesn't help me win the
Mediterranean Man of the year award! LOL :-)
I used to worry more about this until I went to
Termini and saw other blonde and red-haired native
residents. Also, I have met many of you who are 100%
Sicilian and yet have seen similarly non traditionally
Mediterranean features. My dear friend Tami in
Cleveland is 100% Italian (75% Sicilian, 50%
Termitana) and I practically look dark and swarthy
next to her. My dad's cousin, Sal Marcellino, is 100%
Termitano, born in Termini and he is similarly very
fair complected as is also my father.
I theorize that some of us Termitani have quite a bit
of Norman blood. A boyhood photo of my 100% Termitano
grandfather posted on the Termini website shows him
with blonde hair even though his older sisters are
darker and more olive-complected:

Unfortunately, I seem to have only inherited the
less-favorable Sicilian features such as short
stature, short upper body, a long nose, and the
beginning of facial jowls if I gain too much weight.
But what I lack in genetics I try to make up for in
fervor for our people and history! And my appetite for
canolli's!
