[TI] Grave's Disease

Happy birthday to all of you--my son Michael's birthday was also August 25, 2008. He is now 21! Yes, Joe and I can drive up to Kent and stay at a motel there--which would make it close to where Michael is. We hoped to go with you to Cleveland since we don't know where anything is and need your guidance. Can you make 2 more reservations for Saturday's dinner for us? We could leave Saturday morning and come back Saturday after dinner.

I am glad you pointed out that Michael would be deadly bored by the whole experience. I do look forward to getting together with you and Rita and spending time with our "roots." It's really an amazing group! I am sorry about your granddaughter Sarah, but thankfully, there is so much that can be done to deal with diabetes today. Fortunately, she was diagnosed early on.

My family is good--but rushng around and jet setting as always. Barbara and Bob plan on going to Tanzania in February, 2009. Barbara is supposedly retiring, but I am not sure what all they have decided to do. My sister Mary Sue's Daughter Katie was married in May in Ann Arbor. She graduated from medical school the next week and is currently a resident in pediatrics at University of Chicago. Her husband Alex is a lovely and gentle person. My family was almost all at the wedding, and it was gala and filled with joy.

love and miss you, Cousin Rita

Hi Rita,
We are back from North Carolina. My brother John is here from Texas and Diane from Boston. Tom is coming in also. We are celebrating Anna's 80th birthday today. Tom was 61 on the 25th, Diane is 48 today, George 60 tomorrow, Anna 80 on Sept. 14 and I will be 67 on Sept. 19. We have a lot of birthdates close together.
We had some bad news this summer. Our only grand daughter, Sarah, was found to have diabetes. She will be taking shots for the rest of her life. She is seven.
As far as the reunion is concerned, I finally looked at the TI site to see what is going on. It appears that everything occurs from 4 to 10 on Saturday. I plan to drive up on Saturday morning and drive home that night. Driving here for you would be out of the way. It is a direct shot from Columbus to Cleveland. A suggestion for you would be to go to KSU to visit Michael on Friday night and then go from there to Cleveland Saturday. I could pick you up at KSU if you want. I would come back and stay overnight again at KSU. I would not inolve your son in this. I think he would be bored to death with all the older people. I have never met this people so it is new to me. I sent an email saying that my wife, you and I would be attending dinner on Saturday. You could also drive directly to Cleveland on Saturday. It is a three hour drive for you. You could stay overnight in Cleveland and drive home on Sunday.
Hope all is well. I have not heard from any of your family in a long time.
Phil

Cousin Phil,

I am looking forward to the reunion and to getting together with you and your family. Should I come down on Saturday to Canfield? How should I involve my son with the proceedings and how long is it? Would Rita be able to accommodate us (my son and I) on Saturday evening?

love always, Cousin Rita

We have discussed this before. It does appear that the gene is more prevelant in TI people than in others. My brother Tom, uncle George (Salvatore) and my cousins daughter have Graves disease. It is treatable. Everyone got back to normal.
