Have you seen the Cerda Films? I think they may be all hand written. When we were in Cerda in 2002, it was difficult to communicate with the clerks in the Municipio but they were very cooperative after a councilman directed them to let us into the office. They provided us with several extracts or summary sheets which looked like a census record, different than Termini's, for my grandfather and his siblings. The Nascita for my grandfather was completely handwritten also the Morte for my great aunt.
Paul, you or someone who transcribes, can explain better than I, that the hand written documents contain the same information. It's just that the printed part is also hand written, as well the particular information for that person.
Thanks.
Gloria

With all the discussion of Cerda and surrounding towns....you might be
pleasantly surprised to know that Cerda was such a small town that all of
it's birth records (1820-1910) fit on just seven (7) FHL films!! Compare
this to Termini where it takes 31 FHL films to cover the time period from
1820-1910. It is not difficult at all to order the films and go through
almost 100 years of births in very little time. When we met in Salt Lake
city in 2005, I was researching the Ardizzone Caito family in Termini and I
was able to do all the birth, marriage and death records in just about 1 and
1/2 days! The marriage records are recorded in just four (4) films and the
death records are recorded in five (5) films. The Allegati records, on the
other hand, are quite large by nature and they take up 21 films. I only
used the Allegati films for searching after I found a marriage in the
regular marriage films.
I have a compiled list of all the films for Cerda. If anyone would like to
have it for reference for ordering films from the FHL or for use the next
time we all go to Salt Lake City (or if you go there on your own -
definitely a worthwhile trip), e-mail me OFF LIST at: pjcaito at frontiernet.net
I suspect other surrounding towns would also have their records in just a
few number of films.
